Hello,
everyone!
My name is
Natalie and I work in Bytsko Travel Company. I would like to start this blog
with my story of travelling to Chernivtsi. As we promised, only real photos (I
made my photos on iPhone so sorry for not high resolution quality), real
stories and real emotions!
I travelled
to Chernivtsi a month and a half ago, on June. The weather was very bad, it was
raining and cold like I appeared in the fall, not in summer. But the weather
didn’t allow the city to make a bad impression on me. I was really inspired by Chernivtsi!
A little
bit of geography. Chernivtsi is located in the Carpathian region, in the
Western part of Ukraine. Here is the map:
I do really
like the train station of Chernivtsi. It is small, tiny, but cozy and
beautiful. I love this kind of architecture so I even took a photo (I rarely
take photos of stations, they are not main destinations).
The cab
driver told me that the most interesting in the city is “Forsaj 6” in the
cinema but he was so wrong. The atmosphere of this small city makes you believe
that you are somewhere in peaceful part of Europe. I mean this old pavement (cab
driver told that it is very old and even Germans wanted to buy it for some huge
amount of money due to its history), very beautiful buildings, lovely people.
It is a mix of Orthodox and Catholics architecture everywhere. If you have been
to Lvov, so Chernivtsi is like a mini version of Lvov.

I knew only one place for sure where I wanted to go (I googled it). It was The Chernivtsi National University, I read a little about it in wiki. It was told there that it is included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site so I decided to visit it. And, oh my, it is beautiful! A huge territory of old buildings with church and magic garden in the backyard. I spend about an hour walking all around and it is definitely the place I would love to show to my friends and relatives when we will travel to the Western Ukraine.
After the University I decided
just to go where my eyes will lead me, not with a special itinerary. There was
a narrow street so I turned into it and all of a sudden the old Cathedral appeared!
I think it was closed as it was really-really old and as I noticed the doors
were closed too. I can’t say for sure the name and the history of this place
and that is why I a regret that I didn’t buy an excursion.
Very interesting sights and
buildings are all around. I want to go back to Chernivstsi but this time I
would like to buy a tour or find a guide as there was so many unusual places
and I do not know about their meaning at all.
Next time I will be
smarter, for sure.
